Managed to read a little bit today, but this reading slump is killing me

I'm in such a reading slump omg I think I'll need to start a smaller/lighter book because this is tragic 😭 I'm loving this so far tho so it's a bummer 😞 reading slumps suck

I feel this so much 🥺 treasuring all of my mom's memories as if she would disappear forever if I did forget about them, the anguish of never wanting to forget but it being so painful to remember as well... Gosh, I miss my mother so much too

I've been having a rough couple of days and haven't read much but felt the urge to just sit down and continue this beautiful book and I'm feeling a lil better for sure

My dad called me a drama-queen for reacting so much while reading (he's so mean 😂) but I'm really enjoying it

"I'll just see her at home. (...) But no matter what we had agreed upon beforehand, no matter how much sense it made, somehow I still couldn't quite believe she had walked away from the museum without me." This poor kid 😭

"Why did I obsess over people like this? Was it normal to fixate on strangers in this particular vivid, fevered way? I didn't think so. (...) I was fascinated by strangers (...) Often I saw interesting-looking people on the street and thought about them restlessly for days, imagining their lives, making up stories about them on the subway or the crosstown bus." Oh my god, SAME.

I love the writing style! It's my first Donna Tartt book, so I'm pleasantly surprised. I've been meaning to read her works for a long time and here I am 🫡
