I can’t help but read Augustine’s tone as someone unintentionally extremely absurd to the point of actual comedy so I’m genuinely enjoying this an enormous amount. This guy talks about God like He’s his lover. And the pear theft anecdote?! Are you kidding me? ‘I and a gang of naughty adolescents’?! Either I love this guy and this is a masterpiece of comedy or the translator is a genius.
