Nothing sweeter than the let's run away together trope, especially when one partner is being forced to do something against their will or held captive. But the circus comment was a nice touch.

For some reason, her trying is really irritating me.

This is emotionally a little draining. The way that they're causing him to lose his appetite, to become despondent and lose his will. They're doing that! But they're going to use these things against him to say he's not getting better.

They're the sickness!!
Well, he's clairvoyant, but the depression is their fault, and they'll weaponize it against him. There's no outlet for that frustration.
