The person telling the story is Shelly Wollcott. Shelley is a good person to be telling the story because she knows and understands what's happening all the time. Her side of the story makes the whole reunion idea sound good but at the same time bad because her dad has new girlfriend that is going to reunion and that will be the first time the family will meet her. Shelley hopes her dads girlfriend is accepted
