The introduction made me want to read Jekyll and Hyde. I’ve been thinking about how people have a “formal/work” side to them and a “personal” side to them (and how these things seem to be merging in the recent years). And, the introduction made me get the impression that this idea will further be explored in this book and in Jekyll and Hyde lol.

Also the last chapter I read I didn’t comment on. Mainly because it is just metaphor for dorian being not old. And, just Dorian being like mwahaha I’m not old and ahhhh I’m now paranoid. I know there’s more to it but honestly am not super interested in the chapter, but get its importance.

Henry simultaneously is friends with Dorian but sees him as an interesting case study. I like to believe that Henry doesn’t actually believe all his sometimes really negative and bad takes, but feeds them to Dorian to see how much they’ll stick. Sort of like removing someone’s innocence as a game. However, with how he tried to support Dorian after someone’s death,, I’m honestly unsure. Poor Basil.

Okay well jk. What a shit disturber harry is. The vibe of acting non Victorian societal standards in this book vs how so much was about standards and appearance in Dracula is interesting. But it’s 2 am and im not going to think much more on that thought.

Oh, this is quite theory heavy. I enjoy the idea that “art isn’t meant to be an autobiography” was brought up. Being an artist, of any form, feels like it is really a balance between making something about what you know but extending it to be relatable to the viewer (or at least vibe with the viewer). But then, also, I sort of hate how everything “has” to be relatable. Gah.

Also this is very gay lol.
