Left this for ages, now getting back into it again. Translation could do with being a little less constrained, but solid. Copious footnotes mostly useful - the same translator's take on Heike Monogotari would have benefitted from a similar approach, while being a much smoother, more engaging translation than this overall.

Starting up again and, frankly, struggling. Not sure if it's the fault of the translation, but finding it hard to keep trackbof who's who and what the relationships are - the character sheets at the start of each chapter don't help when people are constantly referred to by their various titles, "he" /"she", names and nicknames interchangably. The footnotes also aren't much help for cultural illiterates.
