Part 3: What if Rayvn, Emory, or Elm tells the king that Elspeth is infected? Or what if the king no longer values Rayvn as a Captain? Who else is infected? How long will it be before they collect all providence cards? What will happen if the King collects all providence cards first? So many questions I guess I’ll have to keep reading🙁

Part 2: I’m less than halfway through the book so it can have many more plot twist but being that Rayvn and Emory are the King’s nephews it’s alarming that the King is willing to kill Emory to “save” blunder. Rayvn says it’s the king’s way of showing mercy which I find hard to believe. Now that Elspeth knows Rayvn is infected and was told that the king knows this can play out tragically.

Part 1: So now Elspeth is tested by the Yew family (Rayvn’s family). Their mission is to collect all 12 providence cards so Emory (Rayvn’s infected brother) can be saved from death. Elspeth finds out that Rayvn is also infected which explains why he’s good at combat. Apparently, the king knows that Emory and Rayvn are infected. Elspeth is mad that Rayvn wasn’t forthcoming with her which is understandable.

So far, the book is introducing main characters & family members along with town officials, the monster inside of Elspeth’s head, and the providence cards. I’m not far enough to give a good impression of the book. This is also my first fantasy novel so I’m excited to get deeper into the book.
