I'm enjoying this as a scientific journal on the phenomenon of "doors" being portals between our world and other worlds full of magic and fantasy. However I'm still waiting for the actual story of our protagonist to actually go somewhere...

Trying this one again.. Hoping that if I can make it to the fantasy, it'll hold my interest. Unfortunately the story is taking a while to get started and every time I find myself drawn into the world of our protagonist, I'm taken back out by the author's consistent habit of breaking the third wall to discuss her own writing choices - just a personal preference but I'm not the biggest fan of that style of narration.
