I am going to make a rule to confirm that there is no "present tense" narration ever again in anything I read. It is so annoying; do authors not get how jarring and unrealistic it is? Gack, how did I stumble onto so many authors using this fucking bizarre tense in books I was interested in? Authors, don't do it anymore! Storytelling can be from any first, second, or third perspective but has to be in past tense!

I hate the writing style: first person singular, "towards" without an S, used way too often instead of just "TO", annoyingly adding "at" with verbs instead if just saying "WIPED" her mouth. I hate the protagonist. I get that she is supposed to open up to life again, learn that magic is real, experience ghosts, and find romance. Could we please not hate the bland, mathematical, bitterly divorced cliché until then?

We are starting with a cookie cutter character whom I hope rapidly changes. Also, please spell "towards" with an "S" and write in first person, past! No one likes present narration. It is weird and does not feel like storytelling.
The notable error in a reading family is to think a used bookstore needs "bestsellers". Yikes, used shops are where we count on finding everything else. New shops only sell big names!
