Wow, who could have possibly foreseen Stephen King winning the reader's choice award for horror AGAIN. People know there are other authors, right? And that there are better horror books out there? And also that Stephen King doesn't have to win like, every year? (I know he doesn't win every year, but he wins a lot of years and I. Am. Tired.)

I literally have only tried to read one of his books & it was a dnf. Sir likes to YAP so I can only imagine his other books....I don't really get the hype? But I've also only tried one books so maybe my opinion is invalid but yeah I didn't understand how he won either. Especially because there were soooo many good books to choose from!

I also just get irritated because people generally act like he's the only horror author out there and when you go to the book store it feels like it's just his books on the horror shelves, or a majority of them anyway. Like if people like him that's FINE, but I just hate the general attitude that he's the end all be all. Give other people a freaking chance!
I think of him as the Beyonce of the book community, way too overhyped. Sir needs to retire or take a break so other authors can get the spotlight.

Like I wouldn't know how to do this in a fair way but I think he just needs to stop being a votable option for the choice awards so people are forced to learn there are other authors out there. Idk, I don't want to be mean at all, if people get something out of his books I think that's cool but I'm like, other authors need a chance!
I lovelovelove Stephen King, and I thought this was a good book, but I would never vote for him for the Goodreads Choice Awards. He would likely be the first to tell you that he doesn’t need that recognition and so many other writers, good writers, writers he has championed, do. Loved this book but voted for my NEXT favorite.
i genuinely love sk’s writing sometimes but yeahhh there were WAY better and WAY more diverse choices this year.
I feel like even SK would agree with this.
