That authors purpose was firstly to explain the story's and experiences he had while in Iraq while enlisted I think his other purpose is to show his crazy side and and explain how his ptsd really effects him

Brian gets diagnosed with PTSD he's been saying he knows he's crazy but the diagnosis just confirms that he is for sure. He finished the story of the day of 6 VBIDEs it was a crazy day with multiple dead but somehow he didn't.

he continues to explain the day of 6 VBIDES and is going through all them he had to see that day and they keep getting scarier and scarier. he has masked men with guns driving towards him and huge crowds of people that could kill him just sitting right by him and he cant do anything about it.

he got kicked out of iraq for multiple mess ups and things he did wrong. I wish he would of went into detail about why he got kicked out but it seemed like he didn't want to talk about it. he ends up getting sent back after begging and waiting out his punishment. He wanted to go back desperately wish is weird

Brain talks about how he got kicked out of his base in Iraq because he didn't get clearance for something from his captain and he got a felony for not listening to him. After this he starts a bit of a drinking problem he says he drinks because of the crazy and his eye but I think its just coping for him getting kicked out of the bomb squad

Brian talks about his friends he made in EOD school and all they things they did in the school. He also tells how Jeff died just years after Brian returned from duty. I think part of the reason brain wanted to redeploy was because of Jeff dying.

he still is talking about his "crazy" but he also started talking about some things that keep him more normal like cigars and talking history with his Colonel or when he was holding guard he thought the kids were trying to kill him and he probably should of shot them but he waited risking his and his groups life because he didn't want to kill the kid

Im starting to understand the book more now and its starting to get better as well. He keeps going back and forth of being in Iraq and being home which keeps throwing me off. The story's of being in Iraq are good so far tho and Im starting to like the book.
