Kathleen has received the first writings from the killer. The tales of abuse she suffered were abhorrent and seared into Kathleen's consciousness, the dreams of her own sexual abuse and the killer's demons somehow merging into.a restless fever dream wherein the killer talks to her. The new boyfriend Maxwell is empathetic about the sex abuse and believes he is in love. Spence the detective is still insufferable.

I am hoping to finish this novel tomorrow . It is exceptionally good and I fully expect it to finish strong. The dynamics between the killer and the newspaper columnist are not alike strictly speaking but their lives a prisoner to pedophilia tie them together.

Kathleen who doles out advice in her newspaper is now dating a poet named Maxwell. We learn about the police investigation..I especially liked our rude detective with the Department's Forensic Scientist after the autopsies were done. There were three bodies chopped up like to make a stew, but the first kill different. Loved the behavioral analysis. The author provides backstory on the redheaded murderer on the loose.

The story features a woman who writes a popular feminist column, and she has drawn the interest of a sadistic female serial killer. The plot is unfolded by alternating points of view of the columnist, the special crimes cop who is a stud muffin gay officer who has a rotten attitude and a loathsome interview technique., and the mentally disturbed torture murderer.
Well written and engaging from a true legend.
