So she decides she's in love with him but still kisses the other guy and even seriously considers marrying him...and she still didn't ask many questions...and frankly she should've been asking questions even before he pointed some things out. I can't decide if she's dumb or not...

I find it hard to believe she doesn't realize that Francis is a dick who is stringing her along because he wants her dowery-- she is smart enough to at least question it.
