I chose to read this book because the cover was gorgeous and the summary sounded very interesting. I was also excited to read a book with a mix of short stories including straight, gay, and pan/bisexual female characters. Since every story was from a different time period and all had different genres, themes, and characters, I figured the variety would be interesting and refreshing.

The story I'm addressing has a character who at first is very timid and naive, and deeply loves a man who calls her pretty and dances with her, but ends as a woman who is broken-hearted as well as realistic. She is also much wiser and more careful to trust others. This represents the rebirth archetype.
