Can't figure out if the uber skeleton is in fact machine or spirit.. something of both or neither. I love how the novels are so unpredictable, I have managed to figure out the red herrings so far but never the endings. I was expecting horror but have found profound mystery - as Odd would say -

Ive read the first part of this book about 4 times now. My audio book keeps loosing my place.. oh well il know the first half REALLY well I guess

First Novel : terrorist, mass killing in a mall, bomb, serial killer, satan's cult.
Second Novel : Insane kidnapper, Charles Manson's female equivalent, murder, zealots,
Third Novel : murder in a monastery, hero in spiritual limbo, segregated from the world at large.

among all this was lots of babble that at the time was irritating and its suddenly hit me how attached to Odd I have become because of it.

Such dislikable characters, as detestable as they are, they are still intriguing. Looking forward to the third novel

The support characters are so good. It amazes me that Odd can be such a mediocre character, within such a strong story and a fabulous concept (fumbled somewhat on delivery) with exceptional support characters.

When I started to read this series I had the highest hopes, upon discovering that it was written in diary style I was skeptical but hopeful. While I did find much of the book (as diaries often are) to be rambling and long winded. I find Odd to be an interesting and wonderful character with some very deep flaws, mainly contradicting behaviors and a softness that comes across as whining. But it grows on you.
