I'm still reeling from his explanation of 'one flesh' as mentioned in Genesis. He seems to think that this is nothing more than a 'kinship bond' between two people; including those of the same sex. This is the biggest stretch I've read in this book so far. Again this is being taken at such a humanistic point of view. Where is The Spirit in all of this?

I'm fascinated by his 'already/not yet' theory when it comes to our view of eternity. He seems to use this argument to validate his beliefs on same sex relating. He hasn't been explicit about it yet but I feel it coming. The fact that the author has a gay son almost immediately makes me want to discredit him as an unbiased authority on the subject.

So far I'm not too impressed. It appears as if he wants to argue same-sex relating from both sides of the fence. Give each side a fair hearing. In doing so he completely dismisses gender complementarity as a basis for understanding the moral issue with homosexuality. I think he's missed the mark here. We'll see.
