I love the poetic way this book is written. I'm a little confused because 3 characters were just added in and I don't know the relationship between everyone else and two of them (Alan and Alan junior). A weird relationship was just introduced too between Elly's mom and her sister? Nancy. They kissed and her dad knows and he laughed and was okay with it. Although Alan wasn't for some reason that is still unclear to me

I love this book so far because it tells me so much about the characters and her life story each chapter. There are lots of backstories that are heartbreaking and/or hopeful and they are all believeable and make me excited to read more. I want to write a book like this because it is so intertwined and believeable and it has a very broad topic that is really powerful and because it's well-written, it is more effective

He talks about the past a lot and uses really old language which makes it sort of hard to read. I learned that he was tempermental as a child and he believed in God, but he believes that God loves everyone but him.
