I want so badly to enjoy this, but knowing the writer is as unlikeable as his characters complicates things. Franzen, why do you so hate postmodernism? Why do you insist in your auto-fellatial quest to assert hard realism as the sole salvation of literature? I might just put this down for a bit and spend some time with Breton's Nadja.
