Basically, things are just repeating. Tess & her friend were still trying to find or making things clear out. But other person from their school knew about the murder. So Tess was trying to find out if her "best friend" betrayed her by telling someone about their "secret" which is about the murder. She would solve everything that connects to Algebra.

Tess, the daughter of the woman that died won't stop finding an evidence on who killed her moms friend. She keeps trying to find a solution/evidence because she wanted to help since her mom won't report to the police. So she's the one that's doing her moms job.

The next day, in her algebra class she wasn't thinking about her homework. But instead she was worrying about the murder that happened to her moms friend. And she thought about life is like an algebra every problem has an answer and you need to solve them like an algebra

This book is about a student who likes algebra. She basically sees life like an algebra. One day she had a conversation with her parents, which is about her moms friends that died. They wanted an answer about if she either did suicide or someone killed her her moms friends
