Finished "The Wall." Reflections of a man condemned to death for participation in the Spanish Civil War, as he awaits his execution with two others, who may or may not be guilty. Some interesting thoughts, about the finite nature of life and how accepting death as inevitable essentially dehumanizes you.

Finished "The Room." Not sure what to make of it. An invalid (hypochondriac, perhaps) wife is secretly tired of her active husband's visits. The husband worries about their daughter, whose spouse is very sick. The sickness appears to be mental, and the father fears that the daughter is succumbing to the spouse's madness. He may be correct.

Finished "Childhood of a Leader." Another story with no sympathetic characters. Follows an obnoxious and entitled blowhard as he tries different philosophies to understand himself. He settles on anti-Semitism and outward appearances.

Another story about a misanthrope. This one is about someone who hates humanity and determined that he wants infamy. His plan is to kill six random people; he mailed a letter to every famous writer in France explaining his motivations and giving his name. When the time comes, he does shoot a few people, but it doesn't match his master plan.
