I was rather thrown off by the switch in perspective from Edmund to Franz, and then Albert, but things are coming together again. Some interesting tensions have been established, and I look forward to seeing how they are resolved. Also liked the nod to Alighieri's Divine Comedy, which just confirmed my suspicions of Dumas naming his character for Dante. I'm curious to see if he follows a similar spiritual path.

I'm reading the Project Guttenberg edition, and the writing style is top notch. I've had a hard time with some "classics" because they were dry and dull, but Dumas writes an engaging and interesting story. I wish I'd read it when I was younger. Oh well, I might not have appreciated then.
