"We only have one purpose: Survive. Survive at all costs, Yanek. (Page 176) This piece of evidence shows words of the wiser because Yanek has been sent to ike 7 different camps so far and all he knows is that he needs to survive. He is struggling though because he is the only one left in his family and he wants to stay alive longer.

"Bullets fired, pop pop pop pop pop from inside or outside of the camp, I don't know." (Page 241) I noticed this piece of evidence because it shows AHA Moments because as soon as Yanek heard those, he knew he needed to get out of sight. So, he started running and trying to hide because he wanted to stay alive.

"The Nazis had killed so many of us, they were running out of Jews." (Page 209) This piece of evidence shows AHA Moment because Yanek was just happy that he was still alive. He didn't know how to process the fact that not many Jews were left and he was one of them that was still left so he was very shocked.

"You have no name. No personality, no family, no friends." (Page 167) This piece of evidence shows again and again because this saying has been said in the book multiple times which means it is important. Yanek cant identify as anything or else he could get killed. So, everytime there is roll call, he panics because it could be his last moments alive.

"You are strong enough to be selected to work." (Page 152) This piece of evidence shows AHA Moment Yanek is being selected to go work as a Jew. Then once all the Jews and europe are collected into camps, they will make a new jewish state and all the Jews will be free. So, Yanek was lucky that he didn't have long to do it, but he still was shocked he was being put to work.

"No you wont survive. None of us will." (Page 122) This piece of evidence shows AHA Moment because Yanek almost had a panic attack when they told him that he probably will not make it out alive. He was trying to find anyway possible for him to escape but he couldn't seem to find anything so he tried to hide and stay hidden before he gets killed.

"Now there was only me. Yanek. I was fourteen years old, and I was alone in the world again." (Page 86) This piece of evidence shows AHA Moment because whenever Yanek went to roll call he didn't see his Uncle Mosho in the same spot that they always meet up he was furious. He was so upset because that was the only person left in his family with him. So, now it was just him left and he had to figure out how to survive.

"I thought I saw a familiar face. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was uncle Moshe!" This shows AHA Moment because as soon as Yanek saw someone that was in his family still alive he was shocked and super happy. Yanek could not believe it because everyone else in his family has died so it was just him and his uncle and he had to figure out how to stay alive without them.
