Notes:
(1) The two "Talk Stories" issues are real eye-openers. Mostly, it shows that Marjorie Liu is capable of simple stories that are clear and easy to understand.
- Unless this is the start of a total change in storytelling, it means the main issues of the series are intentionally dense and byzantine.
(2) Maika's a recovering alcoholic? Isn't she only 19 or 20 years old?

Notes:
(1) I'm often perplexed why I rate this series so high when it's the source of lots of struggle and confusion. I suppose it's because it comes in with a few big moments each issue: positives that greatly outweigh negatives.
- There's a cliffhanger, for example, at the end of this I'm intrigued by. Intrigued so much, in fact, that I pretty much forgot the frustration.

Notes:
(1) Even though there's been a lot of chaotic action here, I appreciate that the battles scenes are mainly limited to principal characters.
- It's a departure from previous action sequences that were pretty much just bloody massacres.
- Not that there's been an absence of carnage, but it's far less focused on.
- One-on-one battles are always the best kind of battles.

Notes:
(1) These first few issues, while still not entirely clear in parts, is significantly easier to follow than the series has hitherto been. Probably not due to any conscious stylistic change, at least I don't think so, but more to do with a shift in subject matter.
- There's been very little focus on politics and war and a lot of focus on relationship and family drama.

Notes:
(1) This starts off with two "Talk-Stories" issues. Presumably, they're flashback interludes.
- I don't know why this is being branded as its own thing. It's not like there hasn't been extended flashbacks in issues before.
(2) I'm not a fan of the half shaved-head look Maika seems to be sporting.
- It's terribly overdone in comics and I've never seen it in real life.
