Not Rep. Hyde getting on my shit list 😅.
Still good, still infuriating, still makes me want to get my pilot license to help get folks what they need.

~ I hate it heeeeeere ~ this chapter was all about how teenagers are affected by these patchwork laws and the hoops a teenager has to go through to get care. I mean, the main story is about a 13 year old who got pregnant by an 18 year old and then the boyfriends mother helped her obtain an abortion. And people were like ... Yeah the 13 year old should have the baby and the mother was tried with kidnapping????

When we think about what banning this procedure and medication will do, it will affect more than those ending a pregnancy. Reading this makes me so grateful I was able to have access to Mifepristone when needed And makes me sad for everyone who isn't able to access it.

So these rulings go way past a woman's right to choose. Roe laid down frame works for stopping workplace harassment, single women having access to contraceptives, and wives looking to leave abusive relationships.
The scariest thing to me, other than falling into the handmaid's tale, is the dig at personal privacy these challenges to Roe do. Every single ruling has a chance for the govt see into all aspects of life.

I'm already pro choice but this first chapter opens up what that actually encompasses.
- The pro choice movement is supporting other women who want to have children who have deep respect for their religion (pro choice is about choice in everything)
- Bringing awareness to forced sterilization for black/brown and disabled women.
- How the pro life movement COULD assist their case with being pro life post birth
