Status Update

Jayson is starting

Notes:
(1) This is a book I'm reading based on hype alone. I mean, it's one of those few books that, if you're a serious "comic book guy," you pretty much have to read.
- Not that I'm holding my nose in any way, just it's not the sort of stuff I'm typically drawn to.
(2) I usually prefer to binge series after they're finished, but this doesn't look to be done any time soon.

Notes:
(1) This is turning out to be a much more challenging read than I expected. One volume in and I'm still not entirely clear who people are and what's going on.
- I'm generally fine with that, since we do get answers as it goes along and increasing amounts of lore and backstory get peppered in.
(2) This is one of those series I'm sure benefits from hindsight re-reads.

Notes:
(1) This is clearly a matriarchal world. Until the end of issue #4, the only males here are animals, a few nameless captives, a child and two local yokels.
- Except for a cat, none of them are more than bit players.
- It's almost a "Y: The Last Man" extent of male absence.
(2) It gets less dense after the first issue, but there's still tons to read between the lines.

Notes:
(1) The first issue was definitely an experience! It's one of the densest comics I've ever read, but in a good way.
- Everything from the plot to the worldbuilding to the art is so rich and intricate that it requires constant re-reading and flipping back-and-forth to process it all.
(2) This is a book that demands a lot of the reader. So far, I'm all in for the ride.
