Yanek affects others by pretending to be a polish but a polish man sees him ripping off his star from his uniform and pretending to be a polish man sees him and he rats him out where the nais throw him with the jews in the concentration camp at the end the american allies attack the nazis and they are save and Yanek meets his uncle who advises him to move to america which he ends up doing.

After the call he met with his uncle when he was in his cell which is called the barrack he came and he was so happy to see uncle moshe uncle moshe had thought everybody was probably dead like Yanek’s dad and mom they were dead he got a job outside of the camp in the tailors shop so he would be out of sight from the warden if he had worked inside the camp his life would be in danger cause the warden can kill him.

When he made it to the camp he tried to find his mom or dad anyone but he couldn't he thought everybody was probably dead but when the roll call happened he saw a familiar face it was uncle moshe he called out “Uncle Moshe it's me Yanek” uncle moshe was giving him a death stare who ever talked was gonna get shot the guard asked who said that and nobody spoke up and he moved on.

When Yanek went back to his home which was the pigeon coop his mom or dad weren't there in fact none of his relatives were there he was 13 he started work in the tailor job where he thought he was safe but no he got sent to the camp next door where they were taken by the nazis is to somewhere they didn't know they won't even know if they were gonna be alive or not he made it to the camp.

Yanek is in his flat with hi mom and other jews that live there all of a sudden there is a big knock on the door nobody opens it and the Nazi soldiers says If I have to break the door You all will die and Yankey gets scared and runs to open the door and the soldier comes in he says where are all your valuables like radios,jewel and others they give it and he says next time open the door at the first knock or else.

Yanek is a little boy who lives in germany his uncle moshe tells him the story of when on the news Hitler told everyone “The jews must disappear from Europe”. Even Yanek was shocked and was shivering after hearing the news.
