Photos are not lies. We might perform in them, but they are proof. They are evidence that two paths intersected and two people marked each other in some way, even if only for a moment.

It occurs to me that Isaac and I will never be this close again. Time is pulling us apart. With every second that passes, the space between us widens. Today, I saw him yesterday. In a few days, it will have been last week. Then, last month. And there is nothing I can do to keep time from wedding more of itself between us. It is inevitable.

One, there was never any mention of this being a gathering. Two, I do not trust anyone who leaves home without a book. It is just not right.

Growing up, he'd say we spend our lives wrapping rubber bands around people. Some bands are so tight that you can feel them pulling you together. Some are loose and stretch for miles, there's so much give you hardly notice them. But you're still connected, and sooner or later...
