Not your average Allon story by any means. And one packed with religious racism and power hungry conservative Catholics

Of all the books by Silva I've read, this is my least favorite since it's packed with ugliness associated with religious racism, extortion and a right wing order whose goal is to use wealth as a weapon. And while it's relevant to the plot, it's uncomfortable reading

While fictional the huge amount of money involved with these religious leaders is staggering and it makes one wonder if this is the sort thing that actually happens at the Vatican..

While the plot slowed from a deep dive in religious history, Silva picks up the pace as Allon assembles the team of usual suspects. Silva is one of the most consistent mystery authors in publishing

Of the 7 or 8 I've read this is the least favorite. While there are similarities to the DaVinci Code, it's not what I expected

I've yet to read any of the series that incorporate plot elements from other books. The parallels to DaVinci Code's wealthy Catholic order are obvious as is its similarity to Western politics.

One part DaVinci Code, another Sherlock Holmes and I suspect we'll see more as the plot unfolds. Quite different from all the others

Unlike any of the others in the series, Silva puts Allon and his wife in the middle of a murder investigation of the Pope and quickly builds momentum in the process. Well done Mr Silva, well done!

Not often we see a Jewish intelligence director called in to investigate the death of the Pope! Talk about contradiction in terms.
