The giver is a motivation driven story because Jonas has a strong moral sense and after his appointment of receiver, he wants to make the receiving and sharing of memories fair and worldwide. Because of this fact he is driven to leave the community and make the memories spread on their own to the community. Then all of the people would share the painful memories and no one person would be burdened with all of them.
