Two epilogues is surely a sign of poor planning on Tolstoy's part. On the other hand, the book promises war to go along with the peace (I read the cover), and that is left after 1813 is peace.

Natasha falling for Pierre is fine, but the simpering love that both are expressing is kinda treacley.

So Moscow is burned, Napoleon is an idiot in genius clothing, and the French are beginning to retreat. Meanwhile Pierre has had the epiphany in captivity that he has longed for his whole life. It took me a long time to understand him. In the end he may be the most sympathetic character (though we'll see - there are two long epilogues in which he could debase himself, and I know he marries Natasha...)
