Why are authors always so concerned about letting us know how the paraplegic character pees?

Ridley
is starting
I'm almost certain I'm not going to like it, but I own it, so I may as well give it a shot.

I know I lie awake at night pondering that little mystery.

I get that I'm biased about these stories, being disabled myself, but I swear, even in the time when I wasn't disabled, I have never looked at anyone and thought, "I wonder how she takes a piss."

I read this book at the suggestion of other people, because it had a heroine with a disability, and they thought it was "really well done". Um... NO.
While my disability is not paralyzing, I do use a chair, and I hope to god that while we are having a conversation, people aren't obsessing about how I pee. It's been a while, but I just remember there being a lot wrong with this one.
I'm reading this as "research" for a blog post/essay on physical disability in romance. It's slow going because the book is such an object lesson in Doing It Wrong that I'm highlighting or bookmarking something on every other page. This book's problematic quotient is over 9000.
LOL! Author assumes everyone's wondering, I guess. But no, I have not wondered that. Too much time...
