Halfway through this novel and I’m struggling. As a Swede, the exoticism of Scandinavia feels unnecessary and forced.

Poppy, the protagonist, is a major issue. She’s a tired "Manic Pixie Dream Girl," one-dimensional and clichéd. The cancer subplot is just as overly romanticized.

Overall, the book is a rehash of clichéd ideas with little originality. A disappointing read that will be hard to finish.
