The use of footnotes! It’s incredible. So far I’m noting the following kinds:
1. Additional story (added like side info, perhaps too mundane, unrelevant, but included nonetheless for informational filling)
2. History background, scholar-like notes
3. Author’s voice/personal commentaries (but since it’s the author’s, we tend to see them as official and correct)
