Although the story stumbles into an astute parallel between aliens raising humans for food and disregard for animal sentience in our own food systems, it also peppers in casual culturally accepted black face as well as multiple racial slurs. Not only that, the only female character in the book and her interactions with the other characters are ridiculous / misogynist in ways that pat the men on the back.
