We finally get to meet some of the female characters Celaena encounters before Throne of Glass, some of which keep floating around on tumblr (ie: Yrene Towers and Ansel), but I am rather confused as to why Celaena persists to have such low opinions of fellow women in ToG. Why is only until she meets Nehemia does she begin to change?

Although these are short stories they add up to a sizeable book, and the stories within have enough twists and turns (thankfully Maas only hinted at them in the series) that you'll be delving into some of the most important moments in Celaena's life that shaped her into the girl in the series. I'm loving this, and I so wish Maas had a chance to re-write ToG now.

This is really getting good. You can visibly see how much Maas' writing has grown since ToG, and it is a thrill to read about the people and events that shaped Celaena into who she is in book 1. Very good pacing, and very easy to read. No complaints here.

I just started this collection of prequel novellas this morning, and I am going to be so sad when I finish this. I've heard it's one of the best books in the series (Sam!) and I'm going to have to wait until September for the next installment.
