This book is changing my inner monologue, for better or for worse. Even though I now think with Batuman's voice, my thoughts seem to lack her propulsive self-reflexivity, in absence of the ability to constantly engage with literary theory. Instead, I think hollowly about the mathematical exercises I have yet to do, the similarities between my exes and Ivan, and whether I will start to learn Russian again.
