Looking through viable presidential candidates on both sides... why can't there be a popular candidate with a balanced approach?

What do you mean by "balanced approach"?

I mean someone who cares about people and the environment but also is economically conservative, which is often the best for future generations. I was considering Cruz. Although I'm not crazy about his energy policy, like with the Keystone Pipeline. Then again, I don't see any lead Republican without a similar policy, or any Democrat who isn't focused on Keynesian economics.

I think that Cruz OR Rubio would be better then Trump. But if America keeps standing divided between them then Trump will win. I think we all need to decide who will be better and forget about the other one. We all have to band together or Trump will win. The last poll I saw had Trump at 50 something % and Cruz and Rubio taking up the remaining percentage. If everyone stopped voting for one (either Cruz or Rubio) then there could actually be a possibility of someone beating Trump. Am I making ANY sense?

And you're right. If the Republican party doesn't want Trump to win, there needs to be a concerted effort to pick another candidate.

I believe some of Trump's remarks are pure grandstanding. He held an off-the-record interview with the New York Times where he spoke about his true intentions. (http://publiceditor.blogs.nytimes.com...). That aside, I understand the concern about Trump.

The Keystone Pipeline, Keynesian economics, or both?
The Keystone Pipeline is an oil pipeline that was planned to run through the United States. It's been controversial because it can mess up the environment and we need to shift away from oil anyways. It's outdated technology. It's time to move on and find something more sustainable.
Keynesian economics is about controlling the market, spending money, and focusing on the short term good.

What do you think of Rubio?

Haha, you're fine. :)

Yea, but using it would be more beneficial than using it from overseas, no?

It's from Canada, so we'd still be getting it from another country. And that's not the point. Oil isn't good for the environment. Just look at the BP oil spill. It not only killed off and contaminated sea life, but took away the livelihood of people who rely on the ocean for their work. There are alternate means of energy that are worth pursuing. And they can become more viable as research progresses.

Isn't there one through the Mississippi river or something though?

It runs through the U.S. but is owned by Canada.
Eh, it's all messy. The way I see it, we're not lasting much longer so *shrugs* whatever will happen will happen.

Besides the politician behavior. Good idea. :)

It doesn't matter what you think may happen with the United States. The environment is a world issue. That's why it's a controversial taking point.
