bozoma saint johns story DESTROYED/INVIGORATED me. we do not talk about widows and widowers enough bc the grief of preparing to spend your future with someone only for death to steal them away is irreconciliable and harrowing. over the years my respect and admiration for my father who himself is a widower has only grown. he's not perfect ofc but the world was cruel to him in ways i hope to never experience
