It’s surreal how many things Yeonmi mentions remind me of Orwell’s 1984. Having only completed 1984 a couple months ago, so many lines in this book repaint fresh in my mind Orwell’s dystopian, totalitarian, brainwashed, feed-the-machine type of society.
1984 was supposed to be a warning to humanity, not an instruction manual. Yeonmi is a true warrior and I am looking forward to reading the rest of her story.
