Finally reached the climax, i think. So helpful to see it just explained by one person. When all we had to go on before was detached events. A relieving ‘exposition dump’. But it wasn’t a dump at all. More a rewarding revelation.

Back after a long ‘break’ chapter 3 really raises my sympathies for the character. Nails his whole poverty angle. I like that he isn’t as whiny here and just talks about the misery in detail as he’s losing his mind. Heavy on the mental degradation aspect of living in squalor. And ofc the tease at the end bringing us back to the story of Bunny’s demise.

Picking up quite well. A lot of introspective quotes, one reminded me of my dad, “…pragamatists are often superstitious.” Superstition is not just a desire for the unseen but a fear borne from a life repressed with Order. Different from a phobia, it entails remedies. Fresh take, than ‘superstition is primitive’.
