Edward is pushing his will on Scotland too hard. After the death of Margaret (maid of Norway) a power vacuum opened in Scotland for Edward to pick a vassal king. John Balliol was appointed king and was forced to let England appeal to Scottish cases of law, which was a step too far.

So Edward’s has been pretty naughty, he’s passed a bunch of laws and built a lot of castle and taxed his people the most in the Middle Ages to re-vamp a crusade. He has beat the welsh and now the Scottish and the French wanna beat him up.

Edward shows his strategy with fighting and beating the welsh princes Dafydd and Llywelyn. 1282 Dafydd took over Haward castle by surprise as a reaction to welsh defeat 5 years prior where his brother Llywelyn was easily defeated due to Edward’s plan to clear out to forest on his way to wales to prevent ambush.

King Edward waged war against two welsh princes, Llywelyn and Dafydd. First Edward strategically ended Llywlyns uprising by cutting a path through the forests to prevent ambushes. Then built castle and created strict laws in welsh territory. As a response 5 years later in 1282, Dafydd appeared unexpected at Hawrden castle and seized it. This lead to a war that ended in both brother being beheaded and shown on spikes.

Henry 3 completely lost power and became a figurehead following the Provisions of Oxford and his homage to king Louis 9 of France. De Montfort lead a rebellion to take control of England, but lord Edward ended up defeating him at Evesham and cutting off his head and ballz. England also officially gave up any land in France.

Read much more of Henry’s reign. He was 28 and married a 12 year old. Had his first kid when his wife was 16. (Manz was creepin) Anyway, he was a terrible general and failed a campaign to retake old French land. Too broke to crusade, he vowed to conquer Sicily and instill his 12 year old son Edmund as king. He also said if he didn’t uphold this vow the pope could excommunicate England from god. He low-key sucks.

Henry the third has taken the place of John, he was 9 when John died so a minority led England for a really long time for him to become king. Because he lacked a father figure Henry the third had an obsession with Edward the confessor created a cult around the man.

King John gets rebelled against by his barons who overtake London, which caused a leave to be made by the Magna Carta. Funnily, John quickly refuted the Magna Carta and got the Pope to discredit it. French king Phillip invaded London and civil war broke out as John caught dysentery and died. He wasn’t buried with his Norman ancestors.

Chapter covers the downfall of king John, hermit Peter of Wakefield had a vision that John will not last on the throne past 1212 and everyone believed him. The king locked up him to wait to see if he was right. Surprisingly John’s legal and taxes system benefit the English people with no titles, because royal law was clear compared to feudal barons. However the barons started to plot killing John. He caught them.
