In the final 73 pages I read, Gordon is finally able to send back the time machines to where the other researchers are. However, if they don't get to the time machines in time, then Chris, Kate, the Professor, and Marek will be stuck back there forever. With events going in their favor, they are able to get together and make it to the time machines in time. But Marek stays because he wanted this his entire life.

In these 75 pages I read, Chris got separated from Kate and Marek trying to go into the mill. Kate and Chris found a secret note saying where the key was in the Green Chapel. Meanwhile, ITC is trying to get the machines back to working so they can teleport them back to where Chris, Marek, and Kate are. They are finally able to do that, but it is up to Chris, Kate, Marek, and Professor Johnston to go to the machine

One symbolic archetype is ice. When Chris and the other explorers go back in time, they find out that people are always fighting, no one is smiling and his happy, and the whole world seems to be very dark internally and externally. Everybody is dying. Life is cold. This is why one of the archetypes is ice.

I think that the story plot structure of the book is voyage + return. In the book, Chris and his other fellow explorers go back in time into the 1300's in France. They are trying to rescue somebody. If they rescue him, then they will have to go back in a portal to where they belong in present day. This is how this plot structure is voyage + return. They are going from one place to another, and then going back.

The conflict of his book so far is character versus society. Along with 4 other college students, Chris Hughes is fighting to stay alive against society in France in the 1350's. They can not go back to where they belong which is present time because of a malfunction, they don't know where to go because their guides have been killed, and they are being hunted down by Vikings.
