This is bloody heartbreaking!

Selvan an quietly backed him, an ever-silent, ever-faithful servant to the officer. Not much page time but a wonderful character.

Kendras the Scorpion officer at last.

Well that's no surprise to me.

"I'll accept your brother as warrantor.........." Basically give Adrastes any excuse to punish Graukar whenever he likes.

Adrastes is playing with Grauker like a cat might play with a mouse. The tension is palpable.

Too much ambiguity. Kendras doesn't play the game well enough to understand the subtleties.

Why am I scared to start this book? Perhaps it's because I think Adrastes will turn into a monster, something will happen to Grauker, that Riktan will betray the Scorpions and that Shadow has an entirely different agenda because he's a Raven? The only way to find out is to start reading, so here goes.............
