An exercise in intellectual self-satisfaction by the author. The only reason this book was so highly praised by NPR was its unchecked pretentiousness. This was a realistic portrait of a marriage if all the marriages you know are between wealthy, pretentious New Yorkers. I found it wholly unbelievable and struggled to sympathize with any of the characters.
