Kate's mother died during childbirth. So Kate and her older sister Mary had to move to Riverton with the grand parents. Soon after the move Mary died from the flu at the age of 3. Kates grandfather was involved with his secratery at work, and wanted to get rid of his wife. So Kate and her grandmother went to visit Kate's dad. Grandma Matilda was very upset, and went to the barn, and commited suicide.

It talked about how right after he lost his $ in a poker game he shoot and killed this guy for $450.00, he was talking about how they know us on these trains so now it's time for us to settle somewere in and how in Iowa this church is trying to sale some land for $50.00 a plot. and while he was away she found a job working for the Reverands, then a few months later she gave birth to Tom Morgan's 2nd child.

It talks about how Tom Morgan and Kate Farmer fell in love that night, the very next day they ran away to go get a marriage license. A few months later she said it's going to be a boy so they were trying to think of a name for him and then they decided Thomas E. Morgan, a day after his birth he died.

It's going through how Kate didn't have an easy childhood, and everybody left her when she was very young. Her dad would also use her as a poker pon when he didn't have any money and would sell her off in poker games.
