You gave it 4 stars, crazy lady!!!Yeah, I'm not wild about it. I think he makes some good points but they seem buried in what I think is a poorly edited diatribe. As I am reading it, I feel like he just keeps losing credibility.
I gave it four stars b/c even though it bored me at some points, i liked when he was telling his story. I didn't look much as to how it was written and stuff, just the story he told. Once he got in the whole theoretical or whatever about language, then i wanted to go to sleep.
I appreciate what he's trying to say but I feel like he's not very direct and goes off on too many tangents. I agree that his story is the only interesting part but even that can bore me sometimes. :)It's due on Thursday so I plan to finish it tonight!
What were the other two books that you guys read last year? We're only reading two -- Puerto Rican and Voices.
Lucky you! we read those too and also I Sailed with Magellan by Stuart Dybek. I still have it if you want to read it, lol
Why did you have to read that for language & culture? I read the first few chapters of that book and gave up!
yeah, we were trying to get off reading when i was puerto rican b/c we had that big identity paper due, but no such luck
Thank goodness she changed it up -- I already wrote the identity paper for Diversity. We're doing a Cultural Study instead.
