in chapter 20 out of 30, viv and tandri have finally gone on what’s basically a date and i understand why this book appeals to a certain type of reader (female relationships being as unobtrusive as possible)

cool that you want to set up a coffee shop. but taverns exist. which serve food with the beer. beverage and food. so why are you surprised that someone set up a kitchen for you TO SERVE FOOD WITH YOUR BEVERAGE?!! i'm not even asking for a detailed system on food and commerce, but this is just common sense!
in other news, the prose is so sparse here and not in a way that can be wielded well.

i think i should something boring to truly get me back on the reading grind. it shouldn’t all be top tier! so why does this have 30 chapters when it’s 250 pages, is it crack cocaine??!

and in context, tandri makes it about an outing to celebrate things going well for the shop, but we all know what should be the alleged vibes.
