This is an excellent history of England. Robert Tombs’ book often describes the history of the UK as a whole out of necessity. England is the most populous portion of the UK and the governmental head. Despite the fact that I’m 50% through the book, he is only now approaching the Victorian era and the English Century (1800-1906). This is a must read for anyone interested in English or British history.
