This is making me so emotional; these little creatures are so amazing, سبحان الخالق. My favorite fact so far is how these scientists measured the physical color properties of flowers, put this data in a software, and tried to find the best color vision system to recognize flower colors. The results were the EXACT color vision system of a bee, who can only see three colors—UV, green and blue!!!!

The dexterity it requires for a six-legged animal to manufacture a repetitive structure with such regularity and precision is remarkable. The resulting construction is also a case of highly optimized engineering: hexagonal cells are better than the round cells of bumble bees, since the latter arrangement wastes a lot of space between cells.

This was the first quantitative demonstration that an animal’s color sense is precisely optimal for the task at hand. An engineer could hardly design a better color vision system for coding flower colors than the one implemented in bees. سبحانك يا خالق 🩵
