The Queen of Air and Darkness, the second book in this larger epic, builds upon its predecessor with wisdom and terrible foreboding. Oh, it still sparkles with lightness--there are entire chapters devoted to silly knights pretending to be a questing beast. But from the very beginning, it hints at terrible tragedy to come.

The Ill-Made Knight focuses on the golden age of Arthur's court, and all the things associated with it, like the Holy Grail, but most of all, Lancelot and Guinevere. At times this book dragged on and on. And it is not a happy story. So far it is my least favorite of the four books that comprise this epic, but it will be good to read the last part.

The Sword in the Stone, the first book included in this massive one about King Arthur, is so endearing. It took me forever to read--it does drag on a little--but it has such humor and heart.
